I’m THAT bride. The bride that’s counting down to her very own wedding day! Eeeek!! And I will be THAT girl that LOVES to squeal, jump up and down, clap my hands, and dance around like no one’s watching. And I’m absolutely proud of it!
I will also be THAT mom (if/when we get pregnant) that will have a countdown and squeal, jump up and down, clap my hands, and dance around like no one’s watching. But for now I’ll leave all that happy girliness to this beautiful mom-to-be, Valerie. I met Valerie many years ago at Pepperdine while we were studying for our Master’s in Psychology. We always spoke to each other in class and have kept in touch since. And when Valerie asked me to capture her pregnancy along with her husband, Paul, I felt deeply honored.
Valerie wanted to do something that was more earthy and in touch with ‘mother nature’. We both chatted and worked together to do something real simple with a little boho inspiration. You’d be surprised at how beautiful portraits can be with just a little planning – even the simplest of dresses can set the mood for portraits and I LOVE when my clients like to work with me on a vision. So we took a drive to Malibu where Spring had come alive with yellow flowers – lucky us! The day was absolute perfection, but it was Valerie + Paul who brought out the natural beauty of soon-to-be parents.
I mean, how much more BEAUTIFUL can a woman be than through her own pregnancy…
This has got to be the cutest baby banner I’ve ever seen! It was specially made by Valerie’s dear friend, Josie of Focal Design by JD, for Valerie’s baby shower. We all can’t wait to welcome Tristan Jax into this world!
If you LOVE her dress, like I do, it’s the ‘Embroidered Fable Dress‘ from Free People – my credit card is out and I think I just might add it to my shopping cart // Baby Banner + Flowers + Hair Wreath: Made by Valerie’s sweet friend, Josie of Focal Design by JD
