vintage themed engagement with a love for basketball – grace + john

For the love of basketball!  So is the exclamation I hear from time to time in this household.  Well, not those words exactly, but when the Chicago Bulls are playing this is what I imagine Dougie’s yelling in his head while Lucky sits comfortably in his lap.  Me, I’m not a huge basketball fan except only when the Lakers are good but I do know all about love + basketball.

You may have seen Facebook posts about Grace and John’s engagement session that was recently published in the new Style Sweets Wedding Magazine.  Seriously.  Who, after playing basketball in collectible Jordans, still looks tremendously gorgeous and sweat free? Grace, that’s who!  We started off their engagement session playing their favorite sport.  And it’s not just a “favorite” sport they have, it’s a sport they commit to with John playing in his own league… And, yep, Grace playing in her own league, too!  But together, they’re a league of their own.  (Hahaha. Corny, I know, but I can’t help myself on this lovely day!)  After I sweated out the photography (while Grace remained dry and still picture perfect thanks to her awesome makeup artist), we headed over to Solstice Canyon in Malibu to one of their favorite hiking trails for a vintage picnic.  After eating cupcakes, we followed it with a hike to the Solstice Canyon waterfall.  There are so many hidden gems in Los Angeles and I’m always thrilled to visit any new spot my clients pick out, especially one as unique as the hiking trails in the Santa Monica Mountains.

Now, let’s give a round of love and applause to Grace + John.  I can’t wait for their destination wedding in San Diego this July!
